Ambient "Dead Air" Noise Removal

In some ways what we're talking about here is similar to the dilemma faced by the audio industry back in the 1960s. Back in the day of analog tape decks, even professional gear had a relatively high level of hiss. Anybody remember Dolby Noise Reduction? It's how Ray Dolby made his millions.

My semiexotic cassette deck back then offered several patented mechanisms for hiss reduction, from Dolby B (good for 10db) to DBX, a companding technique that was very effective but which, according to many listeners, introduced pumping or breathing artifacts.

You persevered a whole lot longer than me Video Impressions! Yes, you have to create an account before anything else. (Why??) Then after the initial problem downloading the demo, ((they blamed their website) I then realised that the downloaded file isn't the demo. Installing it then connects you to their server. First little puzzle is why is it saying "Complete V9" when that's not what I want? Then a list of God knows how many different programmes to sift through to find the one I want to demo. Then a choice of 3 different licences. Cloud, TDM, and something else I've forgotten now. At this point, I'd almost lost the will to live, and just uninstalled. Life's too short!

Edit: Don't they realise that anything "cloud" is yesterday's marketing fad?

I really like the NS-1 plugin and use it quite often. Here is a little 15 second movie theater ad where I used it. It works best when you turn off the air conditioning and any other sound in the room, then use it to get rid of that last little bit of ambient noise floor.
