An error occurred reading the file.

phararhythm wrote on 9/21/2016, 1:52 PM

im really upset, I worked few months on my project(.veg file) and now i cant open it in vegas (tried on version 12 and 14).
"An error occurred reading the file. Make sure you have read acess to the file/folder and that it is not corrupted" appears when I open my project, tried a few solutions from web - none of them didnt work.
File was on an external drive, the lack of safe disposal of equipment disappeared from my drive but managed to recover it. probably it was damaged by.
Please, please help me.

Have you tried loading the backup veg file that is automatically created? It will be Filename.veg.bak.

Might help...

And if you find that file, copy it to a new filename without the .bak ( e.g. project.veg ) and try to open that.

when I trying open backup veg file vegas show "Warning: An error occurred loading project file. The reason for the error couldnt be determined"
Nick, when I did that vegas appears: "Warning: An error occurred loading project file. The file is an unsupported format."

OMG... If backup veg files are still unreadable..., I'm afraid you are out of luck...

I only able to recommend for the future, save and save as. Having multiple veg backup projects. Different veg project after sometime or doing something important step.

Bad luck. Besides what Set said, you can get automatic multiple timed backups in add-ons like Vegasaur. I also manually copy my active projects onto another physical drive each night before I turn off my computer, in case that drive fails.
