an error occurred while creating the media file .

After spending 6 hours editing a video on Vegas Platinum HD 11.0 I go to export/render the file. Immediately after clicking MAKE MOVIE I am greeted with an error message:

"an error occurred while creating the media file .
exception thrown by method called
"

I have rebooted the program, restarted the computer, reinstalled the program and have searched everywhere for a fix, but the resolutions I have found only work for PRO which has the *scripting* option

Have you got the latest version of Quicktime installed?

You also may want to go to the nVidia or ATI web site and download the latest drivers for your video card. You'd be surprised how many thing this fixes.

If these updates don't fix it, then tell us more about your operating system, processor and RAM as well as how much free, clean, defragmented space is on your hard drive. And if you've been able to output a movie previously.

It also may be helpful to know what model of camcorder this video is coming from and what format and resolution it is.

Just downloaded the updates and no luck.
I have been able to export videos before this.
I have windows 7, 64-bit and two hard drives. C drive has 222 GB free (the one which I save movie studio files on) My camera is Canon EOS 500D and used this with a projects in the past.

I have seen this when your parameters (resolution, etc) are not compatible with the rendering format.

What are your settings for the render?
Leona wrote on 2/22/2016, 1:12 PM
All I can see are my project settings which are HD 1080-60i (1920x1080, 29.970 fps) but I can't check my render settings the error continuously appears when I click anything to do with rendering.

Even when doing a (from menu) Project > Render As?

Even when doing that

Have you downloaded any Codec Packs other than what came with Vegas?
Have you tried uninstalling Quick Time temporarily to see if that changes anything?

It looks like there's an article on the SCS knowledgebase about this exact error message. Looks to suggest troubleshooting .NET Framework. Maybe try that?

Yeah, I've already done that but no luck either. It seems the problem isn't with Vegas but Windows and the only thing I can do is reinstall Windows but that's the last thing I want to do right now, so I'm just going to make do with trials of other versions until I am ready to do another install of Windows.

In any case, thank you for your help.
