Analog A/V out of sync

How can I ensure that the audio and video, shot on an analog camcorder, stay in sync after capture/transfering to computer via firewire?

Thanks for any help or suggestions.

Capture through a canopus ADVC unit, like an ADVC-1394, ADVC-50, or ADVC-100, they all support locked audio, you can read about them at www.canopus.us

I have a ADVC-100 it works great...I have no complaints about it whatsoever.

I've captured a lot of VHS/ Hi8's. The onlytime I've had sync issues is when a VHS tape isn't recorded in SP mode. Then the audio/video are off. I had to stretch the video a little to fit with the audio.

Thanks for the advice. I have ordered the ADVC-100, scheduled to arrive tomorrow.

Read on the Canopus site that there may be a compatibility problem with firewire cards using the Texas Instruement chipset. I received my card along with the Studio V7 software from Pinnacle. Don't know what chipset this card has, hope not TI.
