Analog capturing

I was looking at purchasing the Screenblast software to convert old home movies into DVDs. I have a camcorder, but it is older and does not have firewire.

I thought that this software might support capturing directly from an analog capture card, but the features list only says:
Capture and Import
Connect your camera to your PC using standard FireWire/ i.Link® / IEEE-1394/connections

Since I will only be capturing from the analog capture card, I want to make sure that I don't have to use two seperate programs to capture the video and then edit it.

what analog capture card do you have?

more than likely it will be supported - I can use my pinnacle analog capture device with studio 3 with no issues.

You can do it .. you just need an analog video capture board.
I got mine with the Pinnacle software package. The software was horrible and drove me to buy Screenblaster. The video board works fine though and I capture my VHSC and VHS (from the Tape player) into Screenblaster.
I have windows XP as my operating system

So .. works!

I am using the Pinnacle DC10plus analog capture board to capture video a very old Video 8 camcorder. I have also captured video from a VHS player. The only drawback that I have encountered with the DC10plus capture board is its proprietary nature. I have been unable to send the edited video back out to tape. This is a problem with the board and not the software. A huge plus with the DC10plus capture board is that it does not seem to be affected by copy protection on the VHS tapes. I have a series of 'Lost In Space' tapes that I purchased through Columbia Video, and I am going to eventually transfer them to DVD.

I agree with mkholcomb. The Pinnacle software (Studio 8 in my case) that came with the DC10plus capture board was horrible. It crashed constantly and I was never able to create anything useful after a month and a half of trying.

I eventually found Screenblast 3.0 and it has worked great. It is very stable, has a lot of great features and is fairly easy to use. Plus, the people on this forum have been great! They are extremely knowledgable and are quick to reply to questions.

Have fun...

I add my agreement to Studio8 - it stinks. Support is terrible. It crashes, out of synch audio, etc..etc..

Pinnacle is terrible. They are relasing Studio9 soon, and have never fixed the issues with Stusio8.... the forum there is littered with complains and problems.... thats what I like about MS... very few problems here...mostly HOW DO I posts.... MS is rock solid ... plus it is one of the few low cost apps that feature chromakeying!

Movie Studio 3 also work fine with ATI All-In-Wonder Radeon video cards for Analog capture.
