analog to digital using camcorder

Hi -

I read somewhere (on this forum) that using your camcorder as a converter/pass-through device will not use the heads and thus not cause heavy wear on the unit. Is this true?

My setup will be: VHS VCR --> Camcorder --> PC Capture

Yes, as long as your camcorder has the passthrough feature, the heads are not involved.

You probably need to take the tape out of the camcorder and set DV Out in the menu.
