Analog to DV dropped frame problem solved!

Two weeks ago I was using the Dazzle Hollywood Bridge and kept getting TONS of dropped frames (25,000 in two hours!) converting VHS to DV. Tried every suggestion from SoFo support and many Forum participants (THANKS). Nothing seemed to work.

Someone (THANK YOU!) in this Forum suggested I try the Canopus ADVC-100. I bought one and converted 8 hours of VHS to DV with NO DROPPED FRAMES!! None! Nada! Zilch!Even used my Western Digital firewire hard drives!! The quality of the converted images is MUCH better as well.

Regarding the ADVC-100: Anyone know if dip switch #2 must be set to ON in order to output DV (print to DV tape) with the ADVC-100? I would like to have a firewire cable from my PC's IEEE card connect to the back of the ADVC-100 and then use the front IEEE port on the Canopus to connect my camcorder when using the "Print to DV tape" feature.
Thank you,
Steve

Hurray! Another ex-Dazzle user brought to the light ;)

Hmmm. Since you mention that you want to use the IEEE port to go to your camcorder, i'm assuming that you have a digital camcorder with a firewire port, right? If this is the case then you should probably connect the computer and camcorder directly instead of going through the Canopus converter. If you have an analog camcorder then you will go through the converter, but you won't be using the IEEE port on the converter; you'll be using the analog outputs.
