Analogue capture

Hi everybody,

Vegas does not allow me to capture analogue video using the built-in AD converter of my Sony DCR-TRV22.

If the DV cassette is in the camera, Vegas captures from it; if it is not, Vegas won't capture frrm any source, and a message appears stating "Insert tape".

Is there a way to capture using the pass-through function of my camcorder? In case there is not, what program should I use?

Thanks for your reply.

Greetings from Italy.

Andrea

In the VidCap program, go to Options / Preferences / General. Turn off the "Enable DV device control" option.

With some cameras you will also have to enable AV-DV converter for pass-through. My Canon requires this setup. Check the manual. Darryl

I see by your spelling of "Analog" that you are probably somewhere in Europe. Most European countries have forced manufacturers to disable the analog pass-through feature of camcorders in order to "protect" various commercial interests. Thus, your camcorder may not be able to act as an external analog-to-DV encoder.

However, there are several sites that describe how to re-enable these features on some camcorders. I don't have the links handy right now, but you can find them on Google.

I suppose the "Greetings from Italy" part didn't help at all John? :)

I suppose so :)))))

Anyway, thks for your replies. The DV out was enabled, the only thing I had to do was turning off the "Enable DV device control" option.

Now it works.

Thanks again.
