Animate Problems with Title and Text

No matter how many times I save my project, the animate function will not save - this only has to do with text/title movement.

In one part of the project the text scrolls up from the bottom and then fades out. When ever I reopen the project - after saving - the text appears at the final spot and does not scroll up. Also I notice that the final keyframes have either moved or disappeared.

The second part of the project where this happens is I have line of title text that I increase the scale through an animate. Once again, after I save and reopen the project the keyframes have moved or either disappeared - except in this instance the scale stays at the same size from the first keyframe even though the scale field numerically shows the final larger scale.

Lastly, when this happens - if I go into edit the media generated - just by hightlighting the text everything will act normally as I originally set it up (even though the final keyframes still seem to be missing.

I am using the latest build #247 - someone help - please!

I have pretty much the same issue and I am also running v11 build 247.

In my case, I have some text which I scale down from large to quite small on top of an image that is a compositing child of the text. The text parent compositing mode is set to multiply and the image to source alpha such that the text shows through. Renders fine the first time but if I go back in to the text, or try to save the keyframes shift and my effect is hosed.

I have been playing with this problem and I can recreate it on two different PCs using various templates from DVD Widescreen to HD 1280 x 720 and 1920 x 1080. It is looking like a bug to me now.

The short answer is the work around is to use legacy text rather than right clicking on the time line and selecting :"insert text media".

To recreate the problem, I did the following. On a new project add 10 secs of a solid color using media generator to the time line. Then on the text track, right click and add new text media. What I did was click the animate icon next to text and added T in the first keyframe at the beginning. I then added another keyframe at 1 sec and set text to TE, then TES at 3secs and TEST at 4 SECS. The result is text that pops up a character at a time like you were trying to get the typewriter effect. If you play or scrub the timeline you will see what I mean. Now if you save the project and close then reopen it, no keyframes are saved. Also, before you save, if you were to go back in to the text to edit the keyframes they seem to change position.

If i do the same process but rather than adding text by right clicking on the timeline of the text track and selecting add new text media, I choose the media generator and (legacy) text, I am able to to animate without issue.

Surely someone else has seen issues with Vegas Movie Studio 11 and keyframing? The only thing common to my two PCs is both had 10 fist and 11 was added later without removing the old version.

I'm using Buiild 231. I see the same behavior as you both when I add media generator or via right click on the timeline. Presumably they'll fix this soon. Have you reported this as a bug?

No, I have not reported it as bug at this point. I only recently upgraded to 11 from 10 so thought maybe it was just me. Now that I have recreated it on second completely different PC, I am shocked to see more people have not been complaining about keyframing text.

v10 was my first experience with Vegas. I had been using Pinnacle, Ulead, Corel, and an old version of Premier. Overall I would say Movie Studio is by far the best entry level NLE I have seen. being new to Sony, I have no idea how one reports bugs and assumed Sony monitored their own forum and might comment.I guess they do little to moderate.

It would be good to submit a bug report as unlike some of the other vendors you mention they don't necessarily keep tabs on the user forums.

I am also having an issue with the text holding position. Sometimes the keyframes revert to the beginning...and sometimes they don't. I can't get a handle on what I do to make them act appropriately. I will look to report a bug.
