Now available - Excalibur 4
======================================================

Edward Troxel and Gary Kleiner are proud to announce that the latest version of their popular Sony Vegas plugin, Excalibur, is now available.

The team, both noted experts on Vegas editing software have produced several add-on software packages over the past few years, all designed to streamline common editing tasks while using Sony's Vegas non-linear editing software.

Excalibur 4 is now available for use with Vegas 5.0 (version b or newer) as well as the upcoming Vegas 6.0, promised by Sony to be announced in April at NAB

Building on the tools found in Excalibur 3, Tsunami, and Neon, this version is a major rewrite combining and expanding the tools found in all three products, and includes 50 tools in all.

The electronic version is priced at $99, and the $129 CD version also includes a special instructional DVD by the authors. Special upgrade pricing is offered to existing owners of Excalibur 3.0, Neon, and Tsunami.

Major changes:
1) Completely new interface design
2) Combined the three previous products into a single product
3) Roughly two dozen new features added to the existing tools
4) Many new tools added the toolset.

To see all the changes made in Excalibur 4, check out the latest Vegas + DVD Tips,
Tricks, and Scripts newsletter at http://www.jetdv.com/vegas/forum/viewtopic.php?t=433

To download a free 15-day trial, a copy of the manual, or purchase Excalibur 4, go to:
http://www.VegasTrainingAndTools.com.

A free upgrade will be sent to those who purchased any one or more of the products within the last 30 days, or to those who purchased two or more of them in the last 60 days.

Also Edward and I would like to thank the Sony gang in Madison for their continued support as well as the bandwidth here.

Gary

Gary, it looks like you've been busy.

Congrats. Combing your scripts into one tool is a very good idea.

Definitely worth checking out guys. Ed did an awesome job on everything. You get the old functions with some new ones all in one nice package. Id recommend it to everyone.

Gary,

The new version looks great...one stop scripting. Any price reduction for those of us who own Excalibur 2.0(v.5) and Tsunami 1.2?
jetdv wrote on 3/31/2005, 6:12 PM
Mike, you'll definitely get some discount. I recommend e-mailing Gary directly to determine the exact amount if there are questions beyond what is spelled out on the website. The website contains the details, though.

Excalibur 4: This IS the one I've been waiting for!

Using it is a real cinch.

You do get ALL the Tools, from previous incarnations of Excalibur, Neon and Tsunami, combined in a Tabbed format OR you can separate OUT the tools you want - they can FLOAT about the screen. Once used and gone away, the next time you fire up Excalibur 4, you got THAT tool floating in the same place. Now THAT in itself is a great boost to my productivity. Like Vegas 5, you can now sub group tools into their own floating docks as well! . ..

. . . it just gets better . . .

Just used the Voice over Tool, the drop down track display is truly kool! The ability to "slide" volume is just too easy; the options to centre fades on the edge of overlays is fab . . . and once set up, its done in milli seconds!

Oh, yes! You can now scrub the position you want in Time Bandit and see it scrubbing in the real Vegas Timeline AND the Preview too! I didn't know if this was true in previous versions of Time Bandit, but seeing it here really show how much the boys have put into making their s/w integrate with Vegas - thumbs up from me on this too!

The rollover tooltips is soooo essential for my memory . .nice one lads! You listened to me! And the tips don't just "repeat" that which I'm reading! They actually say "useful" things, like in the Voice over Wizard, for the Narrative Track: "Enter the voice/narrative track. NOTE: There should only be events on this track where the voices are actually present" - excellent! Very helpful indeed.

Too much to relate here . .get the demo . .

It's passed the "GNNLQ" that's the "Grazie NumbNutz Learning Quotient"! Big Time!

This IS a serious piece of edit workflow and a tool-editing management system in an easy to use, straight forward GUI. Oh, and the Icons are excellent! - And just for good measure, the tools can be plopped onto the toolbar as well.

NOW I can't wait for Vegas6 . . . . but I'll have too I guess.

Anyways, Excalibur4 has been a real eye-opener for me. Shows me just how "good" GUIs can be AND the value these creators put into "listening" to users and their needs - Again, well done Lads! Well done!

Download a demo and use it - NOW!

Best regards

Graham "Grazie" Bernard

Gary

I tried to get the upgrade price as I have all three applications.

For some strange reason, the upgrade price would not materialise, when I clicked on the link.

I originally thought it might be my firewall, which I disabled (as well as my Google popup blocker).

Still no luck.

Any suggestions.

I have not yet COMPLETELY reviewed the new Excalibur, but does it include ALL of the scripts found in Excalibur, Neon and Tsunami?

Also, does it by chance include any features found in UltimateS?
jetdv wrote on 4/1/2005, 7:33 AM
Clearvu,

Excalibur 4 is everything found in Excalibur 3 plus everything found in Tsunami plus everything found in Neon plus Time Bandit plus many new features added to those tools plus many newly added tools. Download the 15 day demo and give it a whirl.

Ultimate S is completely separate and is from DSE/Johnnyroy.

Brian,

The upgrade pricing and Buy Now buttons do pop up in a new window, so maybe a pop-up blocker is the problem. Can you try with a different browser?

The upgrade pricing is:

$30, $50, $60

depending on what you have bought before. (in your case $30)

Presumably, that's the end of the development line for the individual products?

Gary,
I know you cant say so, but looking at 1 of the great new features of EX4 is the avail. icons for all the functions. I SO HOPE that they have fixed the V5 dissapearing icon bug in V6. sometimes they are there ,other times they are not and you have to hover your mouse over the invisible spot to see whats there.
jetdv wrote on 4/2/2005, 5:11 PM
epirb,

Go through all of the scripts in the Script Menu folder and verify that ALL OF THEM start with a CAPITAL LETTER. If you have any that do not, change them and see what happens.
jetdv wrote on 4/2/2005, 5:13 PM
Pierre,

Tsunami and Neon will no longer be separate products. However, it's NOT the end of development for the tools those products contained.
epirb wrote on 4/2/2005, 5:30 PM
Will do Edward , I take it I should look for all java script files to have the first letter cap'd ?
(edit ) went thru and changed them as nesc , also changed the image/icon name to cap(first letter) as well as the config files.
epirb wrote on 4/2/2005, 5:41 PM
One other question, jsut from using it for two days I planning on buying it.
after install and verification for ordering , do we or can we go ahead and uninstall the three stand alones Ex,Tsu,Neon or just leave them in there.
This is also assuming an upgrade to V6 is in my future.
jetdv wrote on 4/2/2005, 5:45 PM
In my opinion, if you are going to use Excaibur 4, I would uninstall Excalibur 3, Neon, and Tsunami. Otherwise you may have problems figuring out the proper icons to add to the toolbar - especially the camera switches.

Edward,

Thanks for the confirmation and clarifaction. Makes the case for an upgrade even stronger.

Still trying to play around with it now. If I remember correctly, there's a way to make a J or K-cut in tsunami, how do I do this in Excalibur 4?

jetdv wrote on 4/4/2005, 4:00 PM
Neither Tsunami nor Excalibur 4 ever contained a J or L cut tool. I think there's a free script on the VASST site that performs this task. I believe that Ultimate S also has this tool.
