another pan/crop question...

Series of still images - using the pan/crop tool to zoom in and out a la "Ken Burns" effect (poor guy). Is there a way to get the zoom effect to gently "settle in" at the end of the zoom? Right now the effect just stops on the last key frame rather abruptly. Changing the options between "linear" "smooth" "fast" etc doesn't seem to help. Must I insert a series of ever smaller key frame distances to get a more natural/organic/gentle ending to the zoom?
EDIT: OK, it seems the prior key frame point determines the effect... smooth on the first/previous key frame makes for a nicer "landing" on the next key point...

I find that never stopping a zoom is very common in still montages, everything just continually moving. you can slow down a push in to an almost imperceptible crawl as it finally dissolves into the next still.

Your edit nailed it.

If the first key is set to Fast, motion will start fast and end slow--just right for what you need. Also be sure "Smoothness" on both keys is set to 100%.

I've also found that generally, the fewer keyframes you use in a move the better. I used to think I could control the movement better with lots of frames, but it doesn't seem to work that way.
