Keep in mind, what looks good on a web sample, almost never looks good enough on your big screen in the living room. All these products have trade-offs, with quality taking a hit the more you stabilize.
The easiest way to accomplish the best video, is to nail anything when shooting. That includes avoiding camera shake, setting the proper white balance and monitoring your audio. None of the post production products will ever match that.
All that said, I'll still use Mercalli sparingly on a project from time to time.
Ok, I am using a trial version. I do the analysis on the HD clip, but then when I go to render that clip, I get a big red X on the screen over the clip. When I look at the render clip, it's there as well and no correction was done. It only looks good on the original clip played back in the timeline. Is this because it's the trial version, or am I doing something wrong? Thanks:)
The NewBlue trial works fine in trial mode and would not put a "big red X" on your clip. If you submit a support ticket ad newbluefx, they can provide better assistance.
I did notice with new blue fx, that every once in a while, the frame would jump. Why I don't know. Also I called Mercalli today about their software and if you go to toolfarm.com and sign up for their news letter, they are going to be offering Mercalli V2 next week for $99.00
