Any ideas on annotations/rectangular highlights etc for CBT videos?

All,

I am using Vegas 5.0 to prepare a series of CBT demos for a new client. The first demo I prepared turned out excellent but I know they are going to be asking for more as the series progresses. What I need help with are annotation arrows (to point out specifics on screen as the narration goes by) and possibly eliptical or rectanglar shapes that have a distinct outline to highlight different software interface elements as required.

I have the pan and zoom effect working great but these new elements are eluding me. Probably a text generator with a font with arrows would work for the annotated arrows but any ideas on shapes?

Any help would be appreciated.

If you have DVD Architect, check out the arrows. You'll find them in the C:\Program Files\Sony\DVD Architect 2.0\_Themes\ folder
You can download arrows from many, many websites as freebies. Samt with other shapes. I get a lot of shapes from clipart.com
Finally, the generated media cut into shapes with the bezier mask in the pan/crop tool works wonderfully well.

Spot,

Any tutorials on cutting generated media into shapes using the bezier mask? I must admit - this process is probably a bit over my head at this stage of the game...

using the bezier mask over a piece of generated media, you can mask out a section in just about any shape you want. Arrows are a snap to do because you're just drawing straight lines.

that help?

Cheno,

Thanks but I guess I will have to get into the Pan/Crop tool and get my hands dirty and try some of this out. So - using this mask technique...can I get my arrows to move and pan etc...?

Cheers,
