I just got off the phone with sofo tech support, asked questions on some basic features that I needed help in. After all that I tried to get some info on being a beta tester on VA3[no go]...I liked doing it for the video portion. From what I can tell from the response I got what you see is what you pretty much get. I'm very bummed out right now because of it. There probably are a few new features/tweaks that will be added on in the next update but I doubt greatly that midi,dx automation, dxi's,etc will be there. I could be wrong though thats for sure. We'll all find out when the time comes. I'm more of an audio guy than video...I was really hoping for a product that would replace cubase for me. I liked Sonar but I don't want to have to set aside even more cash to have to buy it. Looks like I'll have to be updating my version of cubase to 5.1 and deal with it. I feel really let down right now...I hope I'm wrong. Later.

I think you get a hint which direction the product is going. After all it is called Vegas VIDEO, not Vegas Audio. Sonic Foundy built their reputation on audio products. Have you checked out the rest of their products?

I have everything...VV3,ACID3,BATCH...,SF5,CDA. I was using cubase for all my audio needs. Then I needed to score for a film project..VV2 was on sale at best buy...the rest is history. I've known about the audio stuff from the start. I would have bought it over cubase if it had more of a rep but I wanted something solid. And then I got cubase 3.7...piece of crap[for me at least]. I've just begun to mix all my projects with VA and to tell you the truth... I'm probably just going to use cubase for minor midi work and thats it. Much more stable with win2k and better performance. Hopefully the upgrade for the audio portion won't be so pathetic that I'll lose sleep over it. But your response of "it's called Vegas Video not Audio" is totally BULLSH!T! Just the thought of sofo just bailing out and going PRO VIDEO when their audio apps got them to where they are right now is DUMB! If this is the case then the audio people here in the forums better erupt with a vengeance or else sofo will take it as "well noone really cares about audio anyway" attitude. I hope that when they traded with cakewalk the use of acid technology that they got something in return and can at least stay competetive in the audio field.

Then again maybe I'm wasting my time and the next upgrade will be decent at least. In which case I hope that they put more effort into the audio portion of Vegas in version 4. Later.
