I client gave me a .MPV file with no audio. I'm not familiar with this file extension. I can open it in windows media player but Vegas will not import it.
Is there a way to bring it into VV safely.
W
The .MPV is almost certainly an MPEG1 file with just a video stream, no audio stream. (You also see this kind of file with the .M1V extension.) This kind of file is sometimes called an elementary stream.
Although Vegas can create these elementary streams, for some reason it can't actually import them - it will only import MPEG files containing both an audio and a video stream, also known as a system stream.
If you have no other way of converting this .MPV file into a format that Vegas can use, you might like to download the very useful free TMPEG software from http://www.tmpgenc.net. This will allow you to save a version of your .MPV as an .MPG (with an empty audio stream) which Vegas should be able to import quite happily.
