hello all,

IM in the market for a new video card for my editing PC. I have a cheaper eVGA 32 MB GeForce MX dual monitor out right now. I need a good card with a dual monitor out and need some suggestions. I realized that all the ATI and most Geforces now have dual outputs on them. Would I even benefit by changing? Any suggested cards for editing vegas and using other digital media programs on would be great. thanks in advance.

Aside from dual-monitor support, the video card itself is one of the least important considerations for video editing. As long as the card can display your workspace in the resolution you want with at least 16 bit (24 bit is better though) color, you should be fine with what you have.

Don't bother with any Nvidia or ATI unless you plan to play OpenGL or Direct3D games, or make them (well, if you want an analog capture card, an All In Wonder wouldn't be bad). They would be MAJOR overkill (although, you never know what you're going to be doing tomorrow, so it wouldn't hurt). At work we have a Matrox g450 with 32MB ram, and that supports duel monitors. I think it's only about $40-60 now, which is a good price for a dul monitor card. I'd never get one because I like to play games/create 3d on my home computer, and there's no boss to tell me otherwhise. :)

I use an MX440, and I'm REALLY happy with it-- no particular problems whatsoever. It's dual montior, plays well with my wife's copy of Lightwave... and only ran about $100.
