There is an "OpenCL Image Width Filter" and "OpenCL Image Height Filter" in the Internal Tab of the Preferences. You can try and set those higher but no guaranty it works. It that doesn't mean that the render templates and codecs have their wont own limitations.

I'll look into that, thanks, Old Smoke

Helix YUV VFW lossless codec supports 8192x8192.
I've never tried it at that resolution, however.
wwjd wrote on 10/14/2015, 8:41 PM
Can that work inside Vegas? add on codec or something?
OldSmoke wrote on 10/14/2015, 8:49 PM
I believe what musicvid10 meant is that you can download that codec and try rendering to it from Vegas. Vegas look at installed and add them to the AVI templates where you can select different codecs.

My earlier mentioned solution doesn't work either, you cant set the project properties beyond 4096x4096.

Once you have downloaded and installed the codec, it shows as a Custom AVI rendering solution in all versions of Vegas.

The project properties' resolution should not affect the output resolution in any way whatsoever.

Again, I have not tried this, so I am eagerly awaiting the results of your trials.

Thanks! I'm going to attempt it right now.......

If it is a lossless codec then the video files would be quite large, I would think, and not optimum for delivery. Do you know of a way to convert them to H.264 or H.265 for instance? Handbrake?
wwjd wrote on 10/14/2015, 9:31 PM
well, I have installed exactly per instructions, but I don't find the installed stuff anywhere under rendering in Vegas. I'm on Win10, but don't think that is the prob. But I'm not stellar with codec installs, I jsut follow instructions well, but can't find it. And changing render sizes above 4096, makes it revert back to 4096 instantly.

File->Render As->Save as Type->Video for Windows (AVI)->Template->Custom->Video->Video Format->Helix YUV

NickHope wrote on 10/14/2015, 10:24 PM
I don't have that codec myself, but when you've installed it you should be able to find it in the drop-down list of video formats in the "Custom Settings" dialog, shown below. Incidentally when I try 8k with MagicYUV it reverts back to 4096, so I suspect it might with Helix too. Would love SCS to release this limitation in a future update.

Grass Valley HQX support up to 8K.

but again, vegas exporter/project is limited to 4k
wwjd wrote on 10/14/2015, 10:36 PM
Thanks music vid. I only have 9 options listed in teh FORMAT pull down and no Helix. :( I followed the install instructions and checked them twice. Maybe it is a Win10 thang.

I'll try again tomorrow. But I think the Frame Size box above there always forces 4096 :(
wwjd wrote on 10/14/2015, 10:38 PM
Incidentally, I can upres my 3840 UHD to 4096 C4K and sort of kind of achieve the pixel spreading I am attempting. That kind of works but the effect is much less than what I was hoping for.

UPDATE: I submitted thsi suggestion to the Product Suggestions thingy

Maybe Vegas would need a re-write to handle 8k reliably. See the other thread about possible end of road for Vegas.
NickHope wrote on 10/15/2015, 4:59 AM
Maybe they could be charitable and give us 8k as an internal preference. Use at your own risk.
