Any way to stop .sfk files?

Every time I use VMS on a clip or still, it places a .sfk file next to the file. I've always assumed this was a necessity. It really clutters the drive and file structure up, though.
I've found I can delete the .sfk files and the video file opens and works fine and my file structure is much more tidy and condensed.

Anybody know how to turn off .sfk's and if so the risk of doing so?

You can tell Vegas to not generate the waveform display for audio events (maybe, not sure if this option is available in the studio version). But, if you do that you'll only see blank rectangles for audio instead of seeing the very helpful waveforms displayed.

SVMS has the option to build peaks for visible files only, but not to turn it off completely as far as I can see in the options. Looks like they will get built at least when the media file is visible.

To the OP - if you want to delete them, it makes sense to do so only after you're done working on the project, otherwise they will be regenerated each time.
