and you found the sound forge booth.....where? I was there Sunday and was sad to see no presence by Sony Pictures Digital. It pisses me off to see Cakewalk and Sonar and Digidesign and Waves and Motu and NEVER see any sign of Vegas or Sound Forge.
No wonder the majority of my clients have never heard of Vegas.
I went for all 4 days (listened to lots of papers and presentations and gave one). Not too much to report though some personal highlights from the floor were:
Universal Audio had the Fairchild 670 plug-in for the UAD-1 running in "alpha" or maybe "beta" mode. My impression: WOW! I CANNOT wait to have this plugin in my setup, it sounded incredible and blew me away.
I went to the Studio Projects microphone booth to hear for myself what (in the past in these forums) was some heated debate about these mics. People have really talked up the C1 (and a friend really sold me on the C3 at the show). I listened to both and then tried both of their tube mics (the T3 and the TB1). The TB1 was a really compelling microphone and I plan on getting one very soon. It was much more present and full than the C1 or C3 for vocals. The T3 was very nice, but cost more for the extra patterns (fig 8 and omni). The TB1 was very close to the T3 (in booth testing conditions).
The SP rep was surprised that the TB1 wasn't selling as well as they expected, after listening so was I.
