Hmmm. I did a google search and found THIS

It's amazing how similar your question is. ;)

I suggest you provide more background. One time event? What's in your project? What were you doing at the time?

Haha! I'm DESPERATE! :)

This error happened several times. My project consists of MPEG 2 video clips of my son's basketball games. The clips range from 15-25 seconds long but there are HUNDREDS of them. I have only been able to import about 170 to my project and then the system crashes. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the program. The error does not occur at the same time when I do that. It does seem to be associated with the NUMBER of clips that I am at but not exactly.

I cleared out the folder that contains both my UNCUT and CUT clips in explorer. After removeing the uncut clips from a game (about 2GB) it seemed like my project let me import more clips but after another 20 clips it crashed again. I'm not sure that the SAME error info occurs and I can try to look into that.

The thing is, I have made about 8 previous videos on my old desktop XP using Vegas 6 and had NONE of these problems. If I had, I would have given up because my life (isn't everyone's?!) is so busy! 5 young kids, work, home etc! The problem is I'M HOOKED on making these awesome videos! :)

Also-I even downloaded the Vegas movie pro supported by 64 bit vista and it still crashed. My husband's IT person from his work is going to meet with me to see if he can help but 1) he's on vacation for a week :) 2) I'm realizing how important it is to talk to someone who knows video editing AND vista :)

Thanks for any feedback and thoughts! The forums are a great source of information and I have learned a lot about other things!

I think Vegas has a problem when you import a large number of events. The way around is to create more than one project, render, and later join them together.
