I haven't gotten any red or black frames, just the sync problem.

Just an update. Recap of the issues so far:

1) Video Lag, video out of sync during playback from timeline appearing at times to be slo-mo. (Continues Problem)
2) Red/Black/Gray parts of video when effects are toggled on in preview. (Intermittent Problem)
3) At times there is no difference between "Draft Auto" and "Good Full" (Intermittent Problem)

Again, this is with V9 32 Bit on a Vista 64 Machine, Sony EX1 MXF files, project at HD 1080-24p. Intel Core2 Extreme CPU X9640@3.00GHz with 8 gigs of ram

On my side though despite all the above the video does seem to render properly and in sync.

I swear SCS must not use beta testers who actually do video for a living... Every release has had bugs with basic tasks that could in no way get past anyone actually using the software for any decent volume of work.....

Just did a clean install of Win 7 32 bit on my i7 box and put Vegas 9 32 bit on it together with Neo Scene.

I know of the Scene playback problem in certian modes, but I think playback is slow even in preview full mode. If I make a simple dissolve transition I get 11-13 fps, but it is of course better than the org. AVCHD HCM150 files, which is 6-7 fps at the same spots.

Edit: Just tried some HDV footage and it is much better. I have full FPS in preview full with 3 streams.

At present I have no playback issues. I work with SD and XP 32-bit. However I DO have workflow issues.

What I DO have is it is taking VP9 up to 90 seconds to load! PLUS it is lethargic in switching Windows Layouts. It is making my present project a real chore. I look forward to getting back to a fluid workflow. Till then I shall be relying on VP8.

And yes, I have reported this to SCS.

I have also reported that I can't get VP9 to recognise VEG files in Project Media as "Media Files". I have to select "All Files" and have to shift through all sorts of files to unearth the VEG I want - for nesting.

Yea, it's a drag. I'm hoping with all hope there is an update soon. I really regret opening some projects I was working on in 8 in 9 and saving, not to mention the new one I started in 9. Workflow? lol, there is no workflow! When I cant sync and I have full clips showing up as red or black frames unless I close or re-open its a miracle if I make any progress at all. Now I'm not bashing in all this, just a bit disappointed as I had really looked forward to this release. It's sad that until there's some update or resolve I'm going to have to stick with V8.

Even without Magic Bullet Looks I'm having these problems but as mentioned earlier, I believe Magic Bullet Looks exasperates it. Would love to hear from anyone else using MBL's to confirm.

Sony? Any thoughts here?

lol, well if I thought getting mad would fix it I'd get mad. As it is I just need to somehow plow my way through the couple I got going in 9 and then go back to 8 and I like 8 until this is sorted out! Not a huge setback but no real progress either. Just wanted to like 9 better! The biggest disappointment is that I'll still have to convert EX1 files to mxf, was really looking forward to not having to do that!

I am using Magic Bullet Looks without any detrimental effect at all. Having the "intelligent" Previewing is a boon for me, and points to the fact that SCS are getting aboard our wish to have intelligent use of the Preview. Well done SCS!
