Anyone know Properties settings for this?

A cameraman has delivered two tapes to me shot on a new Sony HVR-Z1U. I can capture the footage OK but whenever the video image has much motion there is also quite a bit of juddering/stuttering/whatever you want to call it. It looks like a framerate/pulldown issue.

I have Vegas 4 and I'm pretty sure there must be Properties settings that can properly handle this footage. In the setup menu on the camera, he selected a setting that was "60i film-like" or words much similar to those. The setting says that it delivers an image with "the atmosphere of 24p." But it's not true 24p, apparently. Given that this is a Sony support forum and I'm using Sony Vegas and the footage was shot on a Sony camera, I'm hoping someone here can tell me how I can capture this footage and get it to play properly.

TIA

Couple things how was it shot in HDV or DV mode?
What are the files you have M2t or avi.
If shot in HDV and downrezzed to DV what were the settings.
Little more info and we can help.

Hi epirb and thanks:

"Was it shot in HDV or DV mode?"
It is DV.

"What are the files you have M2t or avi."
My Vegas capture files are avi.

By the way, one VERY important piece of information that I left out earlier: The project I am working on has Properties set to 24p because that's how the rest of the footage was shot. Capturing this new footage into that project was just an experiment and I'm not surprised that it has problems. My hope now is to capture it in a different instance of Vegas (with what Properties?) and then export it as 24p 2-3-3-2 pulldown so that I can import it into the main project. That has worked for me in the past with non-24p footage being used in a 24p project. But so far I haven't had success at capturing and viewing this material in an instance of Vegas.
