Anyone know technique/plug-in to render Asian painting look?

Hi all. I am doing a video of a province in China. I think it would be interesting to do all, or part of it (intro) with an Asian brush painting look. There is a plug-in for a different (consumer) "Cyber" NLE that does this (and other painting styles, like impressionists) quite well and easily. I own the other NLE, and use it occasionally, as it has some functions not available in MVP.

The plug-in (used with their NLE) seems to be exactly what I want. However, the plug-in ONLY works with an NVIDEA graphics card and also, is rather expensive. I have an AMD graphics card in my machine, so if I purchase the plug-in PLUS the graphics card, we're talking about a significant amount of expense, and this combo might not see much use beyond a few projects. Don't want to overuse a technique.

Can anyone think of a technique or plug-in that would enable me to render out some video with that Asian brush look?

Thank you,

Len Kaufman

Do you have an example? Have you considered using a program like Photoshop?

OK. The above are samples they post on the NLE's web site. There are similar plug-ins for some impressionist artists.

Very nice. I bet there are some plugins for Photoshop that would be similar or other graphic programs that you could export frames and reimport. don't know if it would be any cheaper than your original path.

David-tu....I would be willing to buy the plug-in from Cyber, but, for me, buying the new graphics card puts it over the top, especially as I prefer to use the AMD card for MVP. I've never tried using Photoshop for video. I'll check out the possibilities, if any.

BruceUSA...I'll take a look at Newblue ArtFx. I have one of them that makes video clips look like a cartoon, but I don't think I can adjust it enough to look like brush painting. I will look at it, however. Never met a plug-in I didn't like. LOL

BruceUSA...I took your suggestion and tried NB CartoonR. By the way, I also had Ignite Cartoon which is similar, but I preferred the NB version for this one. I added NewBlueFX Air Brush to it, and came up with this (attached). This is a screen shot, not a video. Look pretty cool when put in motion. I'll probably tinker with it some more, but not bad (IMHO) for a starting point.
