Anyone try Vegas under Vista RC2 yet?

Curious - has anyone installed Vegas 7 under Vista RC2 yet? If so, have you run into any issues?

I just finished installing Vista RC2 within a Virtual PC environment, which has its own inherent limitations. I'm going to try Vegas out within the VPC just to see if it comes up under Vista. But maybe some of you have installed Vista RC2 as your native OS?

Not yet, but I'm interested if anyone gets it working. I just moved to XP x64, and would consider moving again to Vista if it works with Vegas.

I had it working just fine, except none of my plugins were registered, but that was not a Vista issue, it happened on other OS's also. Worked fine.

is there a reason to expect a performance boost under Vista over XP ( assuming the hardware is the same?)

planning on a new PC in like 3 months mainly for Vegas and want to figure out the best config - (hw I have been reading other threads core2duo and 2gb) - so I am interested in SW -

I am usually not such an early adopter but if Vista has significant advantages I will go for it ..

Ok, I got Vista RC2 up and running last night. I installed Vegas without a hitch, but... it choked on installing MSDE, as MSDE is not Vista-compatible. I found a note on Microsoft's site stating that MSDE is not compatible with Vista, and folks needing MSDE should instead use SQL 2005 Express (http://msdn.microsoft.com/vstudio/express/sql/download/).

Unfortunately, before I had a chance to install SQL Express, the trick-r-treaters materialized on my doorstep. I'll install SQL Express this evening and report back.

Update: I now have 7.0b with Media Manager running under Vista RC2. However, it was not intuitively obvious how to get it this way.

I needed to first uninstall Media Manager, as it DID originally install, only not correctly (since MSDE is unsupported in Vista). Then I installed SQL Express. Finally, I re-installed Vegas 7.0b, which doesn't actually install Vegas - it skips that part because Vegas is already installed. It then proceeds to install Media Manager. During this install, it warns about MSDE being incompatible. I simply hit continue. Whether or not MSDE got installed is unknown to me. What I DO know is that the tail end of Media Manager installation successfully set up the database and initialized it (this step failed during my earlier attempt, when SQL Express had not been installed). I can only assume that SQL Express properly supported the required database access.

Then I tried running Vegas. It came up fairly quickly, and the Media Manager tab was there (no media yet).

Way too much time spent in front of the computer today - I'll try bringing in some clips tomorrow evening to make sure Media Manager can properly read and write from/to the database.
