I have been using a bitrate of 448 kb/s for the AC3 stereo track on my last few SD DVDs and I notice that on some players I am getting some freezes and skipping.
Anyone else experience this?
I used to use 320 kb/s, but opted for better quality.
John,
I am not surprised at your finding...I can't remember the exact setting that I tried in the past - but my conclusion at the time was to leave it alone. Are you familiar with some audio blind hearing testing done to evaluate hearing differences of sound source encoding? I seem to recall a finding that a blind test could not establish a difference.

I would think it would only be a problem if your total bitrate is exceeding the optimum for a burnt DVD
But I also think that is way overkill for your audio track. 256is plenty for good quality in Stereo.
