anyone using an XHA1 with Sony Vidcap????

It seems to be recognized alright but I get : " The device Canon XHA1 could not be opened. Please make sure it is turned on and not being used by another application or user."
Any thoughts?

Are you using the right capture application? There's one for HDV and one for DV, if the XH-A1's not set to the matching one in the VCR menu, you would get that message I reckon. It doesn't work if set to 'auto' in the signal setup menu. Make sure the firewire cable is disconnected when changing from HDV/DV. (Don't know why, but Vegas won't acknowledge the change otherwise)

You are right sir...it seems the problem was that I had selected SD from vidcap but my tape was cued up on HD at the time (I had both on the same tape) so that confused vidcap...thanks Arthur
