Anyway to move lensflare/light rays out of screen?

I want those to go beyond my screen, so they dissapear (not just have properties change). The current work-around I came up with is make a project MUCH larger then what I want (IE 1440x960) & bring that rendered AVI in to another veg & pan/crop it to the wanted project's resolution (720x480). This just takes forever to render the huge frame's AVI! Using a nested project takes longer, much longer.

Here is a cheat.

Make a new video track on top of the scene you want the Lens Flare effect. Insert Generated Media>Solid Black and add effect to this track. change compositing mode to ADD. The black goes away but the lens flare stays. Then you can use either track motion or pan crop to move the flare off the edge.

May not work in every situation but worth a try.
