Apple ProRes, 4K 9:16 impossible (max height 2160p)

naposorus wrote on 9/23/2025, 8:30 AM

Hello, I'm currently using Vegas Pro 20 and I'd like to know if there's a solution, or if the new Vegas fixes this issue that makes it impossible to render a ProRes video in vertical format in 4K. This is because the software doesn't accept a vertical resolution of +2160p, even though the horizontal resolution is 2160p and not 3840p.

When you manually select 2160p x 3840p, the software forces you to render at 2160p x 2160p.

If anyone has an answer, I'd love to hear it.

Time to upgrade.

@john_dennis Is your comment meant to confirm that the new Vegas 23 fixes this issue?

Vegas Pro 23-278 project size can be 8192x8192.

Pro Res render is limited to 5120x2160.

For a fine intermediate you could try MagicYUV.

I thought there was a workaround for this limit but I forget what it was.
