apply croma key only to a certain region within frame?

Hi there!

A sequence with a croma ( croma is one third of the frame) didn`t work out too well so that when I apply the croma keyer in Vegas 5.0 my background is getting fuzzy. Is there any way I can avoid applying the cromo keyer for a certain region of the frame?
A mask doesn’t work as a it takes out the masked region completely!!

Thanks

Marc

You could try putting a second copy of the item on the timeline below. Then use the mask on the top part. Chromo key the entire bottom image and you should see through to the bottom chromo key section.

Might be an easier way, but this should work (I've done something similar before).
