Not much on the text front, but there are lots of new effects, like the new slow motion time warp effect, the mesh warp effect, the mesh warp transition that can be used to smooth out jump cuts during interviews, the new color grading panel, etc.

There are no new text effects per se, but the mesh warp can be applied to text and warp and distort your text in any way you want, which is pretty cool. Also, the warp flow is a lot of fun to play with and has a lot of potential for creating some cool transitions. This appears to go unnoticed but the motion tracking is much improved (fixed actually) and can be used to pin text to surfaces and 3D objects.

The motion tracking is planar now, meaning it can track in 3D, rotating the tracked image with the scene in virtual 3d space as it turns. Since this can be used for some really cool text effects that are motion tracked into the scene, this could apply to what the OP asked.

@fr0sty Thanks for clarifying that. I really need to sit down and spend a few hours exploring all these things. I was just happy learning where all the new features are located. LOL.
