Are you using BORIS MOCHA PRO 2020 as a Plugin in VP17B321?

On which of those should the MP effect be applied? However I do it I get no results back on the Vegas timeline. I do manage to apply it on a track and open the Mocha plugin interface and to apply the Paint Brush and it is really cool tracker.

@Martin L - Apply it as any other FX OFX. Apply it to the Event.

But then I don't see how to bring it back into Vegas. My head must be too thick...or worn out.

@Martin L - After you’ve done your thing in the MOCHA Workspace Save and go EXIT.

So what I would need is a really good step by step tutorial.

@Martin L - Yes. Have a look on the BORIS MP2020 site.

@Grazie (and the rest) I just realized I forgot to mention that mocha pro 2020 has something written in their release notes about Vegas (yes, I am the kind of guy who actually - sometimes - read patch release notes, even from Microsoft updates).

If you scroll down to the known issues (or do a search on vegas) you see:

@bitman - Yup, I pointed that out to them.

Ok, thanks Grazie, but can yo also answer the first one: "For starters, do you need to make a parent track, a child track, or not?" Then: "On which of those should the MP effect be applied?"

But then I don't see how to bring it back into Vegas. My head must be too thick...or worn out.

I'll try that again, when I have the first question answered.

I did last year and I reached so a certain level, then I ran out of time and the whole thing was abandoned. I'll watch the videos again. But istill hope someone who got the grips on Vegas 17 and Mocha 2020 could make a nice tutorial. If not I'll try to get through all the old ones.

Thanks again. I really appreciate your input.

Martin

Wow, really? That simple?

So if you want to insert a picture or a video onto something, like a PC or a phone, that you have tracked, where do you place the insert video? On a track above, below or what?

@Martin L - Yup, that simple. And NOW I understand your P and C question.

So if you want to insert a picture or a video onto something, like a PC or a phone, that you have tracked, where do you place the insert video?

@Martin L - You do ALL of this within the MP Workspace. There’s a multiplicity of controls.

Oh, right! I got a film job cancellation today, so I dedicate the entire day to learn MP, at least to get me going.

I tried before to import the insert video into Mocha but didn't succeed.There must be some basic thing I do wrong. I'll try again right now.

One thing though: If the insert video is placed in Mocha you can't add effects on it afterwards, right? It seems to me a better way would be to do the compositing in Vegas rather than withing Mocha. According to the manual it should work.

I get going now with a new try!

By the way, I checked all the Mocha videos on Boris and Youtube but couldn't find a single one that deals with my specific problem.

@Martin L

To insert a video using mocha, you need to use mocha fx as composite mode with 2 tracks (at least with mocha version prior to 2020)

i don't have my computer right now but i believe the bottom track should be your inserted video and the top track your background (where you apply mochafx as composite mode)

Yes, that's what the manual says too, unless the compsiting is done withing Mocha. According to the manual the insert track should be the upper one and should be made the parent. Thus the background is the child on the track below. However, it doesn't work.

I also tried to insert video within Mocha. A still picture will work, but when I tried inserting a mp4 video Mocha says it doesn't support that file format. (!!!)

I've contacted Boris support but no answer yet. Anyways, I'll try to check the Mocha forum for more answers.

Hello, I have Mocha Pro 2020 and I tested it with VP17 (built 353). Rendering times were awful: a 2.13 second clip where the remove module is used took more than 18 minutes to render vs. 3 minutes with VP14. A 6 second clip with remove module as well never finished to render with VP17 (rendered successfully in VP14 in 51 minutes). Then I created a nested timeline with the 6 second clip and rendered it in 50 minutes in VP17 but the mp4 file had black frames. During these tests I had the GPU acceleration turned ON, so it may explain why. If you try to get GPU acceleration on in VP14 On, then the Mocha interface simply does not open, so I doubt that the issue in VP17 will be fixed. In the end I uninstalled VP17, I will stay with VP14 for another year…

I have slowly begun to come to grips with Mocha 2020 and Vegas 17. Not everything yet but I have actually been able to use it in paid work. (Text & logo inserts on walls etc) So it's working.

Just a day ago Mocha published a on how to use trial ohe BCC Corner Pin Studio inside Vegas 17 to Track text to a wall and to edit out a bypasser.

Haven't tried doing that yet but I will. It's looking good. Mocha is at it!
