arming sound

At the moment i am unable to input sound from a microphone into vegas pro22.

I have checked input into the computer, that seems to be fine.

I have checked the microphone using other devices - thats fine

Using the red button "arming for sound" just produces another sound channel - in the sound channel settings arming for sound is faded out.

Now i am sure that i can reset the whole thing but id much rather a simpler solution

Can anyone give advice?

Go to Windows 'Control Panel' / Hardware and Sound / Manage Audio Devices / Recoding (tab) and select from the list the microphone or device hosting the microphone. R Click on that choice and go to the Advanced tab and if the two 'exclusive control ...' checkboxes are checked, uncheck them.
