(Article) 35 seconds Fighting scene - 56 cuts - not a good edit...

Netflix’s latest Marvel collaboration Iron Fist has not gone down well with critics, the general consensus being that it’s a lazier superhero vehicle than many of those that came before it.

One of the key areas in which it is lacking is its action, typified by this fight scene posted on Reddit today which features 56 cuts in just 35 seconds of footage (a la Taken).

The result of the fast cutting is a disorientating, messy and ultimately not particularly impactful sequence:

maybe the editor was getting paid by the cut? the legal profession used to be paid by the word...

really awful, but then again, i sometimes thought bertolucci rushed his cuts ;-)

Wow. Never noticed that before and I've seen this a few times 😆

I do wonder whether any CGI or compositing was ever needed on this scene. I remember watching it and praying that none of those singing soldiers glance at the camera as it passes in front of them.

Btw, The Raid 2 Car Chase scene:

4:23 - 4:41 - even though this is short one continues take, it is successfully makes so many viewers and filmmakers think ! 😁
