ASIO question

Okay, I upgraded to V5+DVDA2 and love it, however, I now noticed a pop-up window exclaiming that my trusty old SB Live 5.1 card wasn't ASIO compiant every time I opened V5 so I decided to upgrade to a SB Audigy 2 ZS (which came with ASIO 2.0 compliance).

Well now when I open V5 I no longer get a message window, but, when I try to use Creative ASIO setting in "Audio device type" I now get a message: "The ASIO device Creative ASIO does not support the current sample rate." What am I doing wrong - please!

Change your Vegas project sample rate to 48KHz.

Dahhhhh, sometimes the obvious eludes us!

Oh well, no excuses. The problem was I didn't check the box for "Start all new projects with these settings" in "Properties" and so the default 44,100 sample rate kept coming back even though I changed it. Fixed and fixed - Thanks!

Now, is the ASIO Buffer Latency best left at 50ms, now that I got it to work?

Well, you should already have noticed an improvment in the feel of Vegas using ASIO drivers - scrubbing is a bit faster, audio eq adjustment happen in near-real-time (under mme drivers you get that lag of around half a second before changes are heard).

The lower the setting, the more CPU resources are used, so if you don't need the lower settings (eg for real-time software monitoring), leave as is and save CPU for vid and audio effects etc. Note that there's not really any point going higher than the current setting, as the reduction in CPU use won't be that great.
