I just purchased a DigiDesign Mbox (30-day return policy) and I am using their new Windows XP version of Pro Tools LE 5.3.3
However, I wanted to try out the Mbox as an interface into Vegas, but it doesn't recognize it. Does Vegas not support ASIO? If it doesn't, are there any third-party plug-ins or are there any plans to support it in the future.
I purchased the Mbox because of its relatively low price ($425) which included Pro Tools. However, I wanted to compare the multi-track capabilities of Pro Tools to those of Vegas. Not very pleased with some of the features of Pro Tools. For instance, when you record, the screen does not move to the right so you can see the recording taking place (Unlike Sonic Foundry Products). Also, many plug-ins that I had previous to WinXP don't have updates yet to support them.
Today is day one of my 30-day return period and I would really like to keep the Mbox, but if it is at the expense of not being able to use Vegas, I probably won't.
Would the MOTU 828 be a better choice for audio recording into Vegas?
Please provide recommendations.
I am a Sonic Foundry nut and love the integration features of Vegas, Sound Forge and CD Architect. Somebody, convince me to return the Mbox and get something comparable in price that will interface well with Vegas.
