Aspect Problems.

Hey there, I have Sony Vegas Movie Studio 8.0 and I recently put together a small 4-minute movie using various clips from different computer games and I'm rendering it as a .avi with a custom frame size of 1280 by 800. But every time I set this frame size and hit OK to exit out of the "Custom Template - Video for Windows" dialogue box I get the following error:
"Vegas Movie Studio does not support output of frame sizes greater than 1440 (width) by 1080 (height). The template you selected has been removed from the template list."
My frame size is clearly within the stated bounds, and further testing indicated that the error will come up every time the width size is more than 800, or every time the height is more than 600. I can render the video at 800x600 but I can't render it at 801x600 or 800x601.

I do not understand at all what is causing this error and it is EXTREMELY frustrating because I am trying to get this small clip out to commemorate a special occasion for me and a group of friends, and if I render it out at 800x600 the quality is horrendous.

I tried getting help on the Digital Director forums but they couldn't figure out what the problem was.

The error message tells you that it can't export at more than 1440x1080 is wrong. That error message is only relevant for the Platinum version of VMS 8. The plain Movie Studio version, that you have, can't export at resolutions higher than 800x600 indeed. So the bug is not that you can't export at 1280x800, but the fact that the error message gives you the wrong highest resolution allowed for the specific version of VMS.

I suggest you just upgrade to Vegas Platinum 9. It can export at full HD resolutions, 1920x1080.
