Aspect Ratio

We are well underway editing but are having a problem with aspect ratio. We have footage (marketing) from many companies that are within a black box in the frame. We have tried to change the aspect ratio to match everything else but cannot eliminate the black frame.
The aspect ratio buttons are changed to match the other footage but the frame just changes to suit the screen. It is part of the footage so we are wondering if it is the way we captured it from the disk or if we have to work with it the way it is.

Is there another way other than changing the aspect ratio that we are not doing that might work as well.

Thanks

You can adjust the size and position, i.e., cropping properties, of the video event in the Vegas timeline. Drag your video clip onto the timeline and then click the "Event Pan/Crop..." icon of the event. It will bring up a dialog where you can re-adjust the framing of the event to whatever aspect ratio you want.

Of course, this means your image pixels might be scaled or stretched, causing some undersireable fuzziness. But if the original footage is not in the proper resolution and aspect ratio, then there isn't any way to avoid this.
