Aspect Ratio Assistance -- Please!

I recently shot a film with two (different) cameras that I am now editing in Vegas 7.0. I have a very specific and vexing problem, however. The aspect ratio (wide) from one camera is 1.8182. The aspect ratio from the other is 1.2121.

The result is that in my editing program, the widescreens don't line up with one another.

Specifically, the picture/image "fringes" don't match-up as I edit between footage from each camera. Can anyone help me so I can successfully blend the footage from both cameras ( Simply stated, I need the top and bottom of the frame to line up)

Failing the ability to do this (which I suspect...), is there any way for me to insert/move/roll up or down a black marker to cut down the size of a file in Vegas 7.0? I know Final Cut Pro allows you to roll down and up your black bars so various wide screens can match...

Thank you!

The easiest way is to create a PNG image that's transparent in the middle (so it has black parts on the top and bottom) to effectively letterbox both videos to look the same. Then put that PNG image on the first video track.

Making my videos from mixed input - different video cameras and different still cameras - some in 4:3 and some it more exotic formats - I have chosen to make my videos in 16:9 as it fits perfectly on the family plasma.

When I have put the source input on the timeline I do pan/crop and use the preset 16:9.

This even gives the possibility to improve the material by panning a little in the input.

Rendering to 16:9 gives a result that fits and fills the plasma perfectly - no black parts.

If your output is not 16:9 then gust create and save your own preset.
