Audio and preview problems with Canon 550D footage

I have a T2i - don't panic.You need to transcode the footage before you edit it. I use Cineform (costs $99) and I've also had good results with Vegas MXF.

I Render to a New Track using AVI - Cineform or MXF. Leave the original audio (don't re-render the audio). Ungroup the original vid track and audio, mute the old video track.

Now check for sync. If it's still off, adjust the audio track with the +/- keys on the numeric keypad, then group the original audio with the new video.

Yes, we shouldn't have to go through all that because of political (and $$) issues between, Canon, Apple and Sony. Mais, c'est la guerre...

Merci beaucoup dlion,
I just downloaded streamclip from square 5, ( it's free !) and the avid codec package. i did a batch conversion to quicktime with the avid DNxHD codec and now everything's rolling nicely.
