Audio and Video Not Completely in Sync

I have created a few sample video scenes but I notice in some parts, the audio and video are not synced up. In other words I can see someone on the screen talking but the mouth isn't moving when it is supposed to move. Why does this happen? How can I correct it?

Any suggestions, tips, pointers etc would be greatly appreciated!

Brent

If you play the original media on another source is it synced?

What did you use to capture the video?

Do you have any pink colored events on your timeline? If so, right click on them and choose "Synchronize".

All of the clips I am using for this particular project were downloaded from the web and I have no idea how they were captured. If I play the original on the timeline in Vegas it shows up fine but once it's rendered I can see a noticeable drop in quality from a sync perspective.

I believe I saw some pink colored events. Are they colored pink to indicate they are out of sync? I will try your suggestion later tonight.

Thank you,

Brent

I've been playing around with the pink colored tracks. I see the Synchronize command but it asks me if I want to Synchronize by Moving or Synchronize by Slipping. The manual I downloaded from this site doesn't have any reference to synchronizing.

Thank you!

FYI I found out the difference between the two types of sync.

However I am still at a loss as to why I have the problem in the first place. The original video is fine but once it gets rendered, they get out of sync. I can understand how rendering might cause the video to be lower quality, maybe jaggy, but I have no idea why it would get out of sync and how to fix it.

Any help would be very greatly appreciated!
