Audio and video way out of sync with .MOV files

The audio and video way out of sync with .MOV files (renamed to .mp4 for Vegas).

I tried upgrading Quicktime and that tightened up the sync in Apple's player but broke Vegas as it won't import the audio track at all.

I tried the Sony recommendation of changing to their new QT plugin. No joy.

I tried rolling Quicktime back to 7.6.0 but the audio and video continue to be way out of sync (much more than pixel adjustment can handle), and it appears to get worse as the video progresses.

Another poster had the same issue.

If this is h.264, just use intermediate files. Faster to edit, more stable (Vegas is pretty unstable when it's using Quicktime's h.264 as a decoder regardless if you get audio to work or not). If you don't own Cineform NeoSCENE ($100), which is the best for the job, then try Avid's DNxHD: http://eugenia.gnomefiles.org/2009/11/20/loading-canon-digicamdslr-footage-on-avid-mc4/
Just make sure you're selecting the right frame rate and resolution, as that tutorial was written for Canon 5D/7D cams.

Are these files from a zi6 or zi8?
If so, I have a workaround while Sony is working on a fix.

So what's your workaround? Is it to convert the video, or something else. Please share the details.

I had to unlink the video and audio tracks and move the audio to match. I found that as soon as I brought the video into Vegas, the audio was 2 seconds behind the video.

I have the 9 version, platinum pro pack
