Audio "clicking" after .mxf creation

Camera - PMW-EX1 / Software Vegas 8.0 & Sony Clip Browsing

I created .mxf files using the Sony clip browsing software. When I bring the .mxf into Vegas 8, I hear a soft "clicking" in the background. When I view the file in the browser software, it sounds great, same as when I listen to it on the camera (PMW-EX1). Does anyone have any ideas what might be happening here?

Thank you!

I had a similar problem, that may not be at all related, with RayLight .mxf files. When I would first import clips, the waveform wouldn't match and I would get clicking noises. "Rebuild Audio Peaks" under the view tab on Vegas main screen seemed to take care of it. But as I said, this may be a totally unrelated problem.

Unfortunately, that did not work, but thanks for the suggestion. Though the mis-match of a waveform sounds like it may be the right path. I'll investigate that further. I was able to bring the audio into Adobe Audition and that cleared the pops and clicks out right away, but this must be something easy I am overlooking...or at least I hope.

The clicks are caused by audio peaks, drop outs, timing pulses, double monitoring during capture. Go into audio options and select a different "sound mapper", "direct show", or whatever you have listed and try that. Anyway that's what my Guru did and it corrected his clicks.

Unfortunately, that did not work either. It's maddening because the audio sounds so great in the clip browser.

I have literally tried everything in my arsenal to get the clicks into to go away. The only "fix" I have for this is to bring the audio tracks into Adobe Audition and run the remove "pop" filter. Any other suggestions out there to fix this in Vegas?

Is there a plugin that needs to be registered? Some software inserts beeps/clicks to let you try it out, but you need to buy/register to turn the darn things off.

After 5 days of trying to figure out the cilcks and pops in my audio I have thrown in the towel. I was able to get the footage and audio to work great in Final Cut Pro, so with Vegas I'm being forced to bring each audio track I need into my audio editor and run to "pop" filter. That takes care of the audio. If anyone else hears this problem and has any ideas on what to do to resolve the issue in Vegas, please drop me a response. Thanks!

The problem *might* be in the clip browser / drivers itself.
I've been involved in sorting out a major problem with the EX1 / clip transfer / FCP. Switching the EX1 into Clock TC in 50Hz left us with clips that could not be moved into FCP. In 60Hz the clips could be moved but the TC was wrong.
We got a beta release of the transfer utility from Sony which got the clips into FCP but with a major TC problem. When a split clip is joined on the FCP T/L there's a 4 second jump in TC but no jump in the actual vision.
That didn't seem to have any relationship to this problem initially however these clicks you're hearing are very likely sample rate errors. If there's something fishy about how the clip browser is handling TC or sample rates then the problems could indeed be related. Final resolution of the DF/NDF problem in FCP and who knows what else appears to revolve around a new version of the clip browser and a firmware update to the camera.
