audio dropout on print to tape

Most people already know about this so for all you newbies.

After printing to tape I noticed an audio dropout that didn't show up when previewing on timeline. I reprinted and reprinted and...well you get the idea.
I also changed the video, slide the audio to try and rule out all possibilities. Nothing worked. I then decided to zoom in all the way on the timeline and check the position of the error. I had the smallest black frame, couldn't see it when zoomed out. stretched the video to the next cut, printed to tape and it worked fine. No droped frames.

Just a trouble shooting tip for all you newbies. I know how much time it takes to figure things out sometimes.

I have this problem all the time, so I created a script to detect the problem. Download the script here:

Audit for short blank gaps

You have to select an audio or video track that you want to "audit." It will look for gaps on just that one track, and then put a marker on the timeline called "****GAP" at each point where it finds the gap. You will then need to manually fix the problem. You need to run the script on each track where you think you might have gaps.

I hope Sony fixes the underlying defects in Vegas that make it easy for this to occur. As you pointed out, lots of people have posted about this problem, so it isn't something unique that you are doing.
