Audio Edit Shortcut Feature Suggestion...

MixNut wrote on 4/20/2003, 1:41 AM
Hello SF,

I have KB shortcut requests/suggestions based on the operational paradigm of other audio editors [Alsihad and Fairlight] that make life much easier...

Allocate a set of 3 adjacent keys that code for:

-FADE TO HEAD- [from current cursor position on highlighted clip]
-FADE TO HEAD AND TAIL- from current cursor position on highlighted clip]
-FADE TO TAIL- [from current cursor position on highlighted clip]

*any of these allocate the currently selected default fade shape

Also, allocate a keyboard shortcut for sequential toggling up/down through all preset fade shapes when the cursor tool state is in fade mode.

Hope this helps! I know it'd help me ;-)

TIA

MixNut

This is ALL doable via scripting. You could even make them buttons on the toolbar.

Tell me more...I am not a scripting-capable human [yet, at least].

Got Script? [tm]

Interesting idea, but I want to make sure I understand it correctly -- you'd like it to bring in the fade-in or fade-out (or both) curves to the current cursor position? So, if you were 5 seconds into an event and hit the "set fade-in" hotkey, it would be like dragging the fade-in until it snapped to the current cursor position?

That was my understanding, Dennis. In fact, here's a script that does the first part: fade in the selected clip up to the cursor. MixNut, to run this script, save it to your hard drive eliminating the .txt extension (should end with .js). Then, in Vegas, choose Tools - Scripting and pick the newly saved file.

Here's another version that will fade in TO the cursor, fade out FROM the cursor or both.

Hey guys,

Sorry I've been absent. I'm glad there's response!

Dennis - You do understand my suggestion correctly.

JetDV - Thank you for your efforts. I'll give the scripts a shot ASAP.

MixNut, use only the second script. It does all three variations
1. Fade in to cursor
2. Fade out from cursor
3. Both 1 AND 2

The first script only does #1.
