audio has popping sound

OK , this is my first attempt to capture video on my
computer.
Video looks good, but audio has a popping sound, mainly
mixed with the voices (ever see "The Gods Must Be Crazy").
and when i try to playback audio with video...before
capture, the audio is very choppy.
I know my system is barely meeting the minimum
requirements....466 MHZ, 96 MEGS/RAM, 10.2 GIG, SIIG
FIREWIRE PORT,....SONY DIGITAL8 CAMCORDER. But i'm hopeful
i can at least get by with this for small projects.

thanks, Curtis

Curt,

When I first set up my iLink hardware, I experienced the
same thing. Frequent, sharp popping that increases with the
volume of the scene, right? There are several possibilities
as to why this occurs. In all honesty, I never really
figured out why this happened, but I can give you five
steps I took to resolve it:

1. Update hardware drivers (for 1394 bus card, aka
Firewire).
2. Update software drivers (for Windows DV support and
DirectX).
3. Update capture software (self-explanatory).
4. Optimize your system (get rid of wasteful programs
running in the background or do a complete re-format,
whichever is your bag).
5. Upgrade to Win 98 SE or higher if you're using 98 Gold
(complicated issue, so just take my word).

Give those five things a shot and write back to lemme know
how it turns out. It's a nasty little problem, but fixable.

Good luck,
Nick LaMartina
