Audio help

Hello

Well I have a problem with my video capturing, when I capture video from my camera, it all captures fine and all and the audio works. When I import it to the main editing area I don't get any sound. I see the audio levels on the preview fader but nothin on the master and I can't hear it. Speakers work fine and when on the capture window audio works fine. Any one know how to fix this plroblem? I don't even get the waveforms on the audio track. Video works fine thou.

Check to make sure that the audio track's "Mute" button is not depressed (button on the left side of track, it's a circle with slanted line through it). The "Master" volume trimmer also has a "Mute" button (also a circle with a slanted line through it) right above it. If either is depressed, you won't hear the audio. If neither or depressed, I'm not sure what else could be the culprit.

I have the same problem but the solution posted did not help me. Did you come up with a different solution? Please help.

When you capture video from a camera make sure you place it in it's own folder. Some times when capturing the video and audio are seperated into thier own files. So you have to import the audio file the same way as the video. So if you import a video file to the editor and there is no visual audio file, just the video. Go back to the file and look for usually mp2 or mp3 audio file. Then add it to your media list or drag drop it to the sound track. Often importing capture with usb instead of fire wire causes this. Hope this helps.

This is many times a codec problem. Make sure you have the correct codec on your system for the type of file you are capturing.

Please provide some basic information about your video.
What kind of camera, file extension of the captured video, capture method, video and audio encoders, etc.
There is a free utility called MediaInfo that will give you (and us) lots of useful information.

By providing such basic information, someone may already know of a solution and be able to help you.
Much better than trying to guess the cause of your issue. Thanks!
