I would use the audio envelope to remove them. Otherwise, depending on how many ums and uhs you have you will be doing lots of splits. And, unless you ungroup the audio from the video, you'll be splitting sections of your video. Envelopes are your best bet.

Are you on camera when you say those? If you are do you want to remove the audio and leave your mouth saying those sounds?

1. Train with a professional vocal coach.
2. Reshoot.

That's the only solution I know of.

Sadly, if it's only 10min, then a re-shoot is by far the quickest method - provided you didn't perform somewhere on Location - next time remember to film for a GreenScreen later, as this will also capture the wild-track noises, which you may want ( Who knows?).

Non-professionals will find it difficult to avoid "Ums, etc". so you might try to avoid being in-shot, except at the Start/Finish - and these can be delivered several times until "right". ( Thus avoiding the need to cut Video as well.)

Whenever "demonstrating", we don't always need to see the presenter, rather a still close-up of a mechanical-part is often far better than filming/zooming-in, since the Still can be composed with new lighting, etc. Then, Pan-Crop (in Edit), to add movement and if the Still is many Mpx it stands inspection and is likely to be sharper because of the shutter-speed/flash.

Of course it depends why you chose to do the Demo - or was this a 1-off opportunity perhaps, then I'd go with the suggestion before, use the rubber-banding "VOL" technique on a dedicated "Voice" timeline. Make this a COPY so you can switch to the Original, whenever that works better.

Good luck.

Thanks for the responses. There aren't enough "um"s to justify re-shooting. I think audio envelope is the way I will go.
