Audio levels

Is there a way to lower the audio level for just a portion of an event without lowering it for the entire event? I have tried highlighting an area and lowering the audio but it affects the entire event, not just the highlighted area.

Right click on the audio timeline you wish to edit and select "Insert/Remove Envelope - Volume".

After that, select the "envelope edit" tool from the toolbar. Then, right click on the blue line running through the audio clip and select "Add Point".

Once you add some points to the envelope, you can drag the volume level up and down for different points though the clip.
