audio offset/out of sync when editing in same track

When i try to do multiple edits over the same track my audio is out of sync. I've tried everything. My specs are: Abit at7max2 motherboard; i have the audio disabled in bios and have the wavecenter pci adat litepipe card with the latest wdm drivers. I have only a 2ms latency with recycle, reason etc... also have the amd 2700+ xp processor 512 megs 2700 ddram; running windows xp pro. Have the western digital 80 gig (8mb buffer) as the main c drive for apps only and the seagate barracuda 120 gig serial ata 150 for audio only. All of this is inside the thermaltake 1000 series case with seven quiet fans plus one on the processor; so heating is not a problem.
Ran msconfig and turned off unecessaries.
Can't figure out what i'm doing wrong. A friend of mine has a p4 system and the same thing is happening; this also happened on my p2 400 system which is what encouraged me to build this new system. There are no effects turned on in the track.
Again it's one audio track and I'm doing multiple edits on the track (overdubbing/repeating segments of same sounds in track) and basically overlaying on the same track.
When I put the multiple edits on a different track there's no problem; but then I have to silence the parts of the original track where the multiple edits occur. This is very time consuming. I use DP3 and Dp4 on the mac and this does not happen.
Any suggestions?

I've had this problem too. What I did was copied the entire track to another session, deleted the track, and then created a new track and copied it back. That seemed to fix it for me. It is a strange problem though.
