I've read through a number of posts here about variations of this problem, so my purpose in posting this is sort of a realty check:
1. Is the best way to correct out of sync audio still to sync at the head, then stretch the video to sync with the audio at the tail?
2. Is there a known cause for these being ouf sync, and can it be avoided?
BACKGROUND
I have a client who receives h264 video recorded using minature cameras. It is in a mov wrapper. Ususally it works fine, but sometimes they receive one where audio and video are out of sync.
In Vegas, when I look at the media properties I see:
Audio: 00:54:01.27
Video: 00:54:01.27
In Vegas, when I look at the file properties I see:
Audio: 00:54:01:952
Video: 00:54:01:905
Note that the lengths are slightly different in the file properties.
Here are the codecs used:
Audio: Mp4a
Video: Avc1
